MARC Construction Update: Big Progress Ahead!

Exciting progress continues at the Midcoast Athletic and Recreation Complex (MARC)! Construction on Brunswick's new outdoor basketball courts and sports lighting is moving along, with several major milestones just around the corner.

What's Happening Next?

Over the next week, crews will begin installing the new sports lighting poles. This portion of the project will require a crane and may result in temporary closures at the MARC for two to three days while the poles are safely set in place. We'll share exact closure dates and times on our website and social media as soon as they're confirmed.

Looking ahead to early September, concrete will be poured for the basketball courts, and installation of the new shade structure will begin. With each step, the vision for this exciting new recreation space is becoming a reality.

Ground work is just about complete and the holes have been dug for the light poles!

 The MARC Remains Open

Outside of any temporary construction closures, the MARC remains open for public use. Visitors can continue to enjoy the walking loop, playground, pickleball courts, skatepark, and other existing amenities. As always, please respect all construction fencing and signage and use caution while crews are working on site.

Looking Ahead

Construction remains on schedule for completion in late October. Once finished, the new basketball courts will provide even more opportunities for pickup games, youth programming, and community recreation.
