Join us September 20 as Movies in the Park makes their way to The MARC for a special fall presentation of Hocus Pocus (1993). The fun kicks off at 6:30PM with fall activities, free treats, and much more!! It will be a glorious night that’ll make you sick with envy if you miss out!
Movies in the Park has been a long-standing Brunswick tradition in the summer months. Every third Thursday, Nathaniel Davis Park is transformed into a walk-up big screen experience. This provides a low cost and memorable night for our community members of all ages. The cost to attend is free and includes free food from local business sponsors and a free pre-movie activity put on by the Parks and Rec department. For a couple bucks you can load up on movie candy, fresh popcorn, and cold drinks from the concession stand. It’s no wonder that hundreds of people flock to the park off Pleasant Street throughout the summer months.

This year we thought, why should the fun end just because summer is over? Answer is – it doesn’t! Community in the Parks, The Brunswick Downtown Association, and The Brunswick Parks and Rec are teaming up in a big way to keep the movie magic rolling as we slip into fall. The announcement came on July 22 as the Movies in the Park Facebook Page posted a poll for fans to vote on the movie that would be shown on September 20. Choices ranged from E.T (1982) to the Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) with the winner ultimately being the Disney classic Hocus Pocus.
Three days later the group would announce the details of the event, including a new location for the movie – The MARC. The MARC is a relatively new and unknown area to most Brunswick residents, but the perfect place for this year’s fall movie experience. Located just west of the Brunswick Rec Center this space is currently home pickleball courts, a skatepark, a 0.5 mile walking loop, and most recently a playground specifically designed for children aged 0-5. There are still some big plans for the space, which the community will continue to see over the coming years. But right now, the large open field gives the perfect location for an evening at the movies.
September 20 will be here before you know it so make sure to MARC your calendars, so you don’t miss out on all the magic. There will be FREE face painting, pumpkin fun, lawn games, and a sweet treat from our friends at Gelato Fiasco. The festivities kick off at 6:30pm! There will be ample parking for those traveling by car or broomstick, so we hope to see all you ghouls and goblins! Â
